Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The Jakarta chapter of the Association of the Blinds (PERTUNI) launched an IT-based program specially designed for the blind, according to press release here Monday.
The Information Technology Access (PATI) was based on the consideration that freedom to access information technology is universal.
The launching covers two sections namely PERTUNI`s official website (www.pertuni-jakarta.or.id) and computer training for the blind.
The market of this program are people with unlimited access to the Internet. These people could access PERTUNI`s Jakarta website as well as using the site as interactive media to build relations with the blind in order to create an inclusive community.
Meanwhile, the computer training program was given to 15 blind people representing five regional branch offices of PERTUNI in Jakarta.
PERTUNI as the organizing committee of this program expected that the IT program could enable blind people to access information technology.
During the training, all participants would be guided by six blind instructors, who are experts in using computers.
